Achari Mutton Meatballs Recipe:
Spiced mutton (goat’s meat) meatballs in a thick and spicy Indian style gravy.
The achari mutton meatballs is quite a delicacy across north Indian homes and it’s not a pickle but owes its name to the fact that the spices used to prepare the gravy is similar to the one used for making pickles. I’ve cooked chicken and mutton pieces in the achari style gravy often, but the meatballs were a new take. I won’t really call it a discovery by chance for it was pretty clear in my head how I wanted to go about the preparation, the inspiration though was driven from a memorable lunch of Lamb Koftas over a flatbread at the Nasimi Beach Restaurant during our Dubai holiday early this year.
